Strafe Expands Recon Kit + Active Insulator Made With brrr° Performance Fabric

Strafe Outerwear, a trusted trend-setter in performance winter outerwear and base layers, expanded its ski touring kit made with brrr° performance fabric to keep you cool, dry, and comfortable on the slopes, cross country — and everywhere in between.

The Recon Touring Pullover was designed for fair-weather touring, and is made with brrr° cooling performance fabric and perforated panels on the back and underarms to support your body’s natural thermoregulation while you’re working hard by drawing heat and moisture away from your skin.

Lightweight with a trim fit and four-way stretch nylon/polyester/spandex brrr° fabric, the Recon Touring Pullover has a water resistant shell that’s also air permeable for ultimate comfort. There are two spacious internal chest pockets that are large enough for skins, plus an internal mesh zippered beacon pocket to hold your valuables. The built-in hood is compatible with pulling over-helmet to keep cold morning breezes out, and the water repellency treatment protects you from light snow and rain.

Strafe also offers the Recon Touring Pant, an ideal companion to the touring pullover with a nylon/polyester/spandex four-way stretch fabric made with brrr° cooling fabric to help support your body’s natural temperature regulation.

Treated with C0 DWR water repellency, the pants are also air permeable and have hamstring vents that allow you to get rid of excess heat during the warmer days. With adjustable hook and webbing at the waist, a gusseted crotch, and knee articulation, the pant offers both perfect fit and perfect comfort so you can enjoy those long days in the backcountry.

The Recon Kit is my favorite touring kit! I’ve skied this kit early and late season resort touring, ice climbing, on volcanoes in the PNW, setting skinners and thigh-deep booters in Montana, and even for 3 straight days at Last Skier Standing in Maine. Whether it’s a quick pre-work lap by headlamp or a day-plus bike to ski mission, the Recon kit excels. I particularly love the versatility of this jacket from a thermoregulation perspective. I can keep it on in all but the sunniest of spring conditions and with a light vest over the top, it will hold up when the temps drop. Even in the middle of the winter, I often don’t bother with a shell if the weather is pleasant. —Forest L., customer

For a go-to jacket you’ll never leave behind, consider the M’s Ridge Active Insulator jacket, which was engineered with performance and comfort in mind. It’s a breathable layer for high-output tours and training, with adaptable warmth that makes it a perfect mid-layer to wear under a shell or a standalone piece that can carry you from the campsite to dinner in town.

This jacket is so well-designed, it’s bonkers. I’ve had it for a handful of ski tours now, in a range of early season conditions, and it performs in any situation. It’s the perfect mid-layer, with a merino base underneath and a shell overtop for the descents and the super heinous conditions. The fit is athletic, perfect for a layering piece, and I’m already envisioning how I’ll add it into my systems for summer alpine adventures. Really looking forward to using this jacket all winter as a critical and essential part of my kit! —Joe, customer
